Well-being Checklist

KNOW YOUR CONDITION

Learn about your condition and understand how you need to adapt. Having the knowledge and information to make the right choices and decisions can help you feel empowered. Finding a charity or support group specific to your condition can really help.

FIND YOUR PEOPLE

Build yourself a support bubble of friends, family, carers and people with a similar experience of illness as you. It’s important that you feel comfortable to express yourself and reach out. You may need assistance with things that you never have before so make sure you know who you can count on.

MOVE YOUR BODY

You’re probably tired of hearing this but exercise makes a massive difference. Often there are classes tailored to specific needs in your local area and there are a wealth of resources online. Doing just a little can boost your health and mood. Get in touch if you would like help finding resources or clubs.

PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

Much like exercise, mindfulness has been proven to improve wellbeing. Mindfulness is a very simple concept that can be done by anyone anywhere. It’s not meditations and affirmations although they can be incorporated at times. There are some fantastic tutorials on youtube and books if you need a hand getting started.

FIND YOUR PURPOSE AND JOY

Having a neurological condition will no doubt change aspects of life. This might mean you have to rethink what’s important to you and what you want out of life. Never forget to make time to have fun and relax. No matter the challenge you’re facing or the length of your to-do list, taking time to yourself is always worth it!
